Default Roman Holiday (dtsl 2010)

Pam sent me a bag of dtsl samples as a thank you for running the contest, so I'm going to review them a couple at a time today(to help out those of you trying to decide

Quote:
Roman Holiday (newBI)- "When in Rome" doesn't usually extend to breakfast for tourists -- the typical aromatic slug of espresso and a lovely but quickie anise biscotti might not quite sustain a packed day of sightseeing.
But what if you're lucky to happen upon a gelateria for breakfast? Especially in Sicily, where the standard morning order still calls for a rich, crema-capped espresso -- but it's often accompanied by a glass of fresh-pressed, winey blood orange juice. And the morning centerpiece? A sweet, rich-tasting, yet light-as-air brioche, split in two and filled with a generous paddle of your favorite gelato. Maybe even a shmear of Nutella, to make it even more luscious. Forget your bagels and toast for a little while -- this Mediterranean morning tradition is worth taking home to enjoy all summer long!
(Croissant, vanilla gelato, Nutella, candied blood orange peel)
It should first be noted that while I love to smell the foody scents, I don't like to wear them. So obviously this is not one I'd normally wear. Plus, it has hazelnut in it(Nutella), which ALWAYS turns on my skin.

That said, this is a fantastic foody scent! The cold sniff on this is really yummy.
On my skin, I can smell the croissant, hazelnut, and orange strongly. The vanilla is not obvious, but blended nicely into the scent.
I think this one will be very popular for the foodies here - esp with the croissant coming through so well.
I'm going to give the rest of the pot to my daughter. Foodies smell great on her!

I usually don't wear overly foody scents myself, though I love to sniff them -- so go figure about this being my entry. Anyway, I get a strong sniff of croissant and orange, like AH said, with the vanilla taking a back seat, at least for now. (Although I put a little on and the orange and vanilla are seeming to peek out more). A really nice interpretation -- nicer that I envisioned or could have mixed myself!

Edited to note: I'm not getting any hazelnut/Nutella yet, but I think my bottle needs some cure time.

On the paddle - SUPER strong, and SUPER foody! Very true croissant note, with an almost-chocolaty hazelnut backing it up. There's a little something "extra" in this scent, and unless I looked at the description I don't think I'd have been able to tell that it's orange! Smelling this, though, has made me hungry. Gonna have to scour the local pastry shop for something like this! Smells absolutely delicious.

This is another new favorite from the DTSL 2010 sampler I just received.

I am not generally a foody scent lover but I'm gradually switching

This is so delicious, especially as I'm reading the "Eat" portion of "Eat, Pray Love" right now!! I am not good at describing scents on me but it is more than just vanilla or warmth, and maybe the blood orange is what makes it feel exotic? It is a complex and delicious scent that made me wanna lick my arms!
